International interior and home furnishings designer Barry Dixon; designer on television's Designed to Sell and lifestyle expert Monica Pedersen; national eco-friendly and healthy home interior designer and author of Kennedy Green House: Designing an Eco-Healthy Home from the Foundation to the Furniture Robin Wilson; and Luxe Magazine national publisher Jennifer Matthews will join in a spirited discussion of the influence of sustainability in their work and for the future of our industry. One Good Chair International Design Competition

Lance Hosey, architect, designer, green advocate, and author of The Shape of Green Design, moderates a slide show and peer review of the highlights of the One Good Chair design competition submission process.  Panelists are from the judging team.   They are Antonio Larosa, Chair of Furniture Design, Savannah College of Design;  Jose Atienza, senior designer William McDonough & Partners; Andrea Mangini,  Lead Experience Designer, Adobe Systems; and Toby Israel, Founder, Design Psychology.    Followed by a reception on the Sky Terrace.

In its third year, the One Good Chair competition is announcing the semi-finalists and finalists at the August Las Vegas Market Aug. 2-6.  The Competition will pair finalists with fabricators to have a prototype built for each.  These will be displayed at the Las Vegas Market Jan, 24-28, 2011, and an Awards Ceremony will take place.  One Good Chair is sponsored by the Sustainable Furnishings Council and the World Market Center.

GREENleaders Certified Sustainability Training

The most comprehensive training program available in green home furnishings, providing manufacturers, reps, retailers and designers with the knowledge and credentials to become experts in sustainability (6 ceu).

 This industry first, 6-hour exam course was developed in conjunction with the Sustainable Furnishings Council, the #1 organization with board members including ranking staff of World Wildlife Fund, Rainforest Alliance, and one of the co-founders of the USGBC. This is the most comprehensive green furnishings training program available, providing designers with the knowledge and credentials to differentiate themselves as experts in sustainability.  Over 300 graduates to date.  Written by an accredited LEED-CI/AP.  Lunch included.  (6 ceu)
