  • Institute for Sustainable Development

    The Institute for Sustainable Development is a new membership organization and a partnership of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, the Duke Center for International Development, the Fenwick Foundation, the Foundation for a Sustainable Community, the UNC-Chapel Hill Center for Global Initiatives and the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work. The Institute’s mission is to capture, create, and transfer knowledge and application of best practices in sustainability in order to influence sustainable development research, policy, and practice.

    Metafore is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that specializes in working with businesses to implement innovations relating to evaluating, selecting and manufacturing environmentally preferable wood and paper products. In November 2009, Metafore joined GreenBlue (described above), a nonprofit institute that works to enable the positive redesign of industrial systems.
